Adoptle rules and how to play
Adoptle hides one pet a day and gives you six attempts to name it. It plays like a Wordle round with names instead of words, and the page also offers three ways to break a stuck streak: solve by clue, solve by letter, or find all possible words. This page explains each mode and what the colours mean.
What is Adoptle?
Adoptle is a daily guessing game about pets up for adoption. You are shown a pet, and your job is to work out the name it is known by within six attempts.
The round is letter based, like Wordle, but names are allowed as guesses and short guesses are legal too, which changes the strategy compared with a five-letter word puzzle. The game page lives on the gaming site Try Hard Guides and refreshes with a new pet each day.
How to play Adoptle
The rules in the game's own How to Play panel are short: guess the Adoptle within six attempts, every guess must be a valid word with names included, and you may use a guess that is shorter than the answer.
Colour feedback follows the Wordle convention. A letter in green is in the word and in the correct spot, a letter in yellow is in the word but in the wrong spot, and a grey letter is not in the word in any spot. The on-screen keyboard carries the same colours so you can see which letters are still live.
If you are stuck, the page offers three routes out: solve by clue for information-driven players, solve by letter for pattern players, and find all possible words when you want to see the candidate set. The pet's context, such as where it is located and its age, gender and size, is shown as supporting information.
A new Adoptle every day
The game's own instruction panel closes with the schedule: come back for a new Adoptle each day. Your streak is built from one correct pet name per day, so a missed day costs more than a slow guess.
This page never names the current pet, the letters it contains or any clue that would solve today's round.
