Reversle rules and how to play

Reversle hands you the solution and asks you to work backwards from it. Instead of discovering a hidden word, you reconstruct the words that lead to it while the clock runs. This page explains the inverse mechanic, how the per-row timer behaves and what the version 2 update added.

What is Reversle?

Reversle describes itself as the backwards wordle, and the welcome panel spells out the twist: this game is the inverse of Wordle. You are given the answer, and your goal is to find the missing words as fast as possible.

The site is part of a small family of guessers built by the same creator, listed on the home page as Mathle, Learnle and ColorGuesser. Reversle itself runs in the browser, keeps statistics, and carries an archive, a help page and an optional PRO area.

How to play Reversle

The board starts from the finished state. Rather than colour feedback telling you about a word you cannot see, you are fed the result and asked to supply the missing entries that produce it.

Speed is part of the design. Each row runs on its own clock, the timer resets each row, and the guesses available to that row reset with it, so a slow row does not poison the rest of the round.

Work backwards from what the board already shows you: the letters or entries that are fixed are constraints, and each row you fill in tells you what the previous one must have been.

Daily round and archive

There is a daily puzzle on the home page, and version 2 of the site added the ability to play archived puzzles, so missed days are catchable rather than lost. A statistics page tracks your results separately from the board.

This guide never publishes today's word, the missing entries or any reconstruction that would finish the round for you.

If working a puzzle backwards is the appeal, these daily games on the same site offer other takes on pattern and elimination thinking.

Frequently asked questions about Reversle

How is this different from Wordle?

Wordle hides the answer and gives you colour feedback while you hunt for it. Reversle gives you the answer up front and asks you to find the missing words that lead there.

Is there a time limit?

Each row runs on a timer, and that timer resets at the start of each row along with the row's guesses.

Can I play old puzzles?

Yes. Version 2 of the site added the ability to play archived puzzles, alongside the daily round on the home page.

Where do I find the rules in game?

The site links a how-to-play page and a welcome panel from the main board, and it keeps a statistics page for your completed rounds.
